As we enter our second decade, we have seen the importance that BFF-funded films have made in shining a spotlight on the lives and challenges faced by those most in need. Our filmmakers tell these critical stories by pushing boundaries and inspiring change.

Let's make the next decade an even better contribution to social justice filmmaking in the Bay Area!

BFF is currently seeking support for a $1 million matching grant provided by a generous family foundation.  Every dollar donated will be doubled through this match.

Please consider the following:

  • $20,000 or more enables us to provide a donor-named grant to join the Al Bendich Award, the Saul Zaentz Award and the newly-funded Jonathan Logan Family Foundation Elevate grant.

  • $12,000 enables us to fund an additional filmmaker.

  • $5,000 enables us to fund a student filmmaker.

  • $2,500 enables us to partially fund a student filmmaker.

  • $1,000 enables us to provide mentorship for a film project.

Along with our founding members—The City of Berkeley, Wareham Development and the Saul Zaentz Company—who remain committed to the mission of BFF, we recognize with gratitude many long-time partners who return to support BFF each year and the new generous donors who are also eager to help filmmakers in their communities find the audiences for their unique stories, art, and current reports on topics important to us all. Thank you!
